When traveling to Tanzania, you’ll want to ensure you’re as well-prepared as possible. It’s important to consider the use of power outlets and plugs in your destination country. Not every country uses the same type of outlets, and of course, you’ll want to be able to use your phone, camera, shaver, and other electronic devices. Additionally, some countries have different voltage levels or frequencies. You may need a travel adapter, also known as a universal adapter. In this article, we provide all the information you need to travel to Tanzania with peace of mind!

Which power outlets are used in Tanzania?

In Tanzania, power outlets of types D and G are used.

Type D: This outlet is compatible with type C (unsafe) and D plugs.

Do I need a voltage converter in Tanzania?

The voltage in Tanzania is 230 V,  the same as the 230 V voltage in most European countries, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Your devices will charge without any issues in Tanzania. You can check the label on your device to ensure it works with a different voltage. If you see '100-240V, 50/60 Hz' on the label, the device can be used worldwide. This label is commonly found on most frequently used devices such as phones, laptops, cameras, shavers, etc.

Please note that in the United States and Canada, the voltage is 120 V with a frequency of 60 Hz, so you will need to check if your devices are compatible or if you need a voltage converter.
