SCOOTER ALONG THE 6 HIDDEN GEMS AROUND AO NANG

Scooter along the 6 hidden gems around Ao nang

Jump on a scooter and explore all the hidden spots in the surroundings of Ao Nang! Ride past local houses, admire nature, and embrace the tranquility. Allocate a morning or afternoon for this journey and be amazed by all that Ao Nang and Krabi have to offer.

Nong Thale

From Ao Nang, it's about a 12-minute scooter ride to this lake. Along the way, you'll spot rows of trees with hanging containers. These are rubber trees, originally from South America. Nowadays, you can find many rubber plantations in Thailand and Indonesia. The sap is extracted from the tree by making an incision in the trunk, and it flows into a container. Rubber is then produced from this tree sap. You'll encounter many of these plantations around Ao Nang. Once you arrive at the lake, it's nice to take a ride around it and observe the local way of life. Local children often find it delightful to see visitors and wave enthusiastically.

Kuan Nom Saow Viewpoint

High up in the mountains, surrounded by lush greenery and overlooking rock formations, lies this viewpoint. It takes about 20 minutes to reach from Nong Thale. At the viewpoint, there's a small restaurant run by a friendly lady fluent in English. She used to own a restaurant in Ao Nang with her husband, but now they've started a camping site with a restaurant. From the restaurant, you have a view of the surroundings. If you take the stairs to the camping area, you'll have a view of the sea from there. It's a great spot to take a break! The road up there is an unpaved path, so ride cautiously with the scooter.

Buddha statue

From the viewpoint, it's about a 15-minute scooter ride to the Buddha statue. Along the roadside, you'll find a reclining Buddha on one side and on the other side, a white statue surrounded by various Buddhas and decorated serpents. It's a great spot to pause and take a look around.

Thapom Klong Song Nam

If you drive 3 minutes further from the Buddha statue, you'll find Thapom Klong Song Nam. It's a beautiful natural area with mangroves and clear turquoise water. For a small fee, you can take a trail along bridges through the mangroves. This place is quite popular among Thai tourists. Don't forget to bring your swimwear because there's also a spot where you can take a refreshing dip in the clear water!

Ao Tha Lane Viewpoint

On a 20-minute drive from Thapom Klong Song Nam lies this viewpoint. Here, you can walk a bit into the sea via a bamboo bridge. Be cautious as the bridge is a bit older and therefore unstable in some spots. At the end of the bridge, there's a platform offering a magnificent view of the rock formations in the sea.

New Bamboo Bridge

The bamboo bridge at Ao Tha Lane Viewpoint is a bit older, but there's a new bridge built approximately 3 minutes away. At this newer bridge, there's a restaurant where you can eat and drink. If you order something at the restaurant, access to the bridge is free; otherwise, it costs $0.50 USD. It's a delightful way to wrap up the journey! From here, it's a 30-minute drive to return to Ao Nang.
